SECURE BICYCLE CAGES - May 2017
As the weather improves and bicycle traffic increases on campus, some cyclists may appreciate added security when parking their bicycle. Parking Services offers three covered and secured bike parking facilities:
- Street level in Education CarPark (NW Corner)
- Street level in Stadium Carpark (SE Corner)
- Street level beneath the pedway between Cameron Library and CAB
Use of these bike cages requires registration and purchase of a monthly or yearly permit ($10/month) to gain access. Visit Parking Services at Lister Centre with photo ID to purchase a permit, or contact us for more information.

UPDATE - March 2017
In an effort to streamline and modernize the delivery of our services, University of Alberta Parking Services has recently implemented pay-by-plate and mobile pay, and has upcoming plans for virtual permitting and camera enforcement.
Typical camera enforcement requires license plate information to be visible to drive-by cameras. As a result of the Province of Alberta's single plate requirement, it was deemed necessary to prohibit vehicles from backing into stalls. Parking Services is pleased to announce that we have been successful in finding an alternate solution and commencing immediately, the prohibition from backing into stalls will be lifted.
University of Alberta Parking Services is committed to technologically relevant service delivery and will continue moving forward in its efforts toward this goal.
BACKING INTO STALLS IS PROHIBITED - February 2017
Parking Services reminds drivers that rear license plate visibility is required when parking in UAlberta lots. Backing into stalls or pulling forward through a tandem stall is prohibited. Exemptions for safety concerns will be considered when accompanied by written documentation from a medical doctor (for medical reasons) or a University Department Head (for official University of Alberta vehicles), stating the reason you are unable to back out of a parking stall. This information can be forwarded to Parking Services at email@example.com. Complying with proper parking procedures will facilitate the implementation of future parking enforcement technologies such as license plate recognition cameras and parking stall counters. Thank you for your cooperation.
PARKING STRUCTURE LIGHTING UPGRADE - December 2016
University of Alberta Parking Services and Energy Management are working together to implement a campus-wide parking structure lighting upgrade. LED lights and motion sensors have been installed in the Southfield Carpark to optimize the lighting and reduce energy use. Stadium Carpark is currently undergoing a similar upgrade, with work beginning at Timms/Telus Carpark in the near future. This lighting upgrade greatly reduces energy consumption, reducing utility costs and the overall carbon footprint of UAlberta. This initiative is part of a much larger $35M energy management program, currently in its third year of execution.
