Parking Restrictions

University of Alberta parking permits have differing usage and restriction schedules depending on the location of the parking facility. Please review the following to determine the usage and restriction schedule for your particular permit. Note that permits are at no time valid at parking meters or marked 24 hour reserved stalls.

Monthly Permits

Monthly Permits are valid at the facility indicated, daytime, evenings and weekends (except Jubilee permits, for which special restrictions apply - see Jubilee Parking Restrictions)

There are two categories for all University of Alberta parking facilities:

Restricted Lots

Lot E, Lot 84, East Campus 87, East Campus 88, East Campus 89, ETCL/ECERF Carpark, Physical Education East, Southfield Carpark, Stadium East, Stadium South, Stadium North, St. Stephen's East, 700, Timms/Telus Carpark, University Terrace, A, M, C, T, V, Jubilee Carpark*, JBLW*, and South Campus.

Restricted lots are solely for the use of clients holding permits for these lots. Permits issued for all other University of Alberta parking facilities are at no time valid in Restricted Lots. A permit for a restricted lot is valid only in the lot for which it is issued, for a maximum continuous span of 72 hours (see Campus Traffic and Parking Regulations 5.4.2). It is also valid in Non-Restricted Lots from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.

*Jubilee permits are valid only until 6:00 p.m. on weekdays; they are not valid on weekends and statutory holidays. Entry is not permitted after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Jubilee permits are valid in Non-Restricted Lots from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and statutory holidays. On occasion, Jubilee parking facilities may be closed to permit holders. On such dates, it is recommended that permit holders use alternate means of transportation. A limited amount of space may be available in other University of Alberta parking facilities. Permit holders may park in these facilities but are required to pay the daily rate in effect.

Non-Restricted Lots

Education Carpark, Stadium Carpark, Windsor Carpark, Lots L, N, R, U, Z, Varsity, and 02 (Campus St. Jean).

A permit for a Non-Restricted Lot is valid only in the lot for which it is issued, for a maximum continuous span of 72 hours (see Campus Traffic and Parking Regulations 5.4.2). It is also valid in other Non-Restricted Lots from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.

All monthly permits are valid only until the expiry date indicated on the permit. Parking availability cannot be guaranteed beyond this date. If you require a parking permit beyond this date, it is highly recommended that you purchase it immediately.

If you do not require your permit for the entire duration purchased, the permit must be returned to the Parking Services office for cancellation and refund, if applicable. If a permit is received for cancellation on or after the first day of the month, the refund will be calculated according to the following formula: Refund = full monthly permit cost - (daily maximum visitor rate x the number of working days after and including the first day of the month), up to a maximum of the full monthly permit cost + the full monthly cost of any additional month(s), if applicable.

Afternoon Permit

The Afternoon Permit is only valid in Lot L, Lot U, Stadium and Windsor from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and statutory holidays. It is also valid in other Non-Restricted Lots from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.

Evening Permit

The Evening Permit is valid in Non-Restricted Lots from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.

Graveyard Permit

The Graveyard Permit is valid in Non-Restricted Lots from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.

Multi-Lot Permit

The Multi-Lot Permit is valid in the primary lot (displayed on the front left side of the permit) during the times specified for the lot, and in the secondary lot (displayed on the front right side of the permit) for a maximum of two hours. It is valid in Non-Restricted Lots from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.

Campus Wide Permit

The Campus Wide permit is valid in Non-Restricted Lots for a maximum continuous span of 72 hours (see Campus Traffic and Parking Regulations 5.4.2). If the Campus Wide designation is secondary to a primary lot, the Campus Wide permit is valid for a maximum of two hours when parked at a lot other than the primary.
